Conor McGregor spends £1.7m on pub where he admitted assaulting customer in 2019
UFC icon-turned-property mogul, Conor McGregor, has added another establishment to his portfolio – and he is very familiar with it.
According to The Currency, McGregor is in the process of buying The Marble Arch in Drimnagh, Dublin for roughly £1.7m.
The 32-year-old has previous with the establishment after being involved in an altercation with then-50-year-old Des Keogh on its premises.
McGregor was caught on CCTV assaulting Mr Keogh after he declined to take a shot of his 'Proper Twelve' whiskey in 2019.
The UFC star plead guilty to the charge in court and was ordered to pay €1000 (£860) and apologised to the victim.
Judge Treasa Kelly decided against a custodial sentence due to the fact McGregor had pleaded guilty, expressed remorse and compensated the victim in the aftermath.
The Marble Arch isn't the first pub the sportsman has bought, however.
McGregor reportedly spent close to £2.5m buying and renovating the Black Forge, also in Dublin.
Earlier this week, the Irishman teased buying his beloved Manchester United after the current owners came under scrutiny over the European Super League saga.
"Hey guys, I’m thinking about buying Manchester United! What do you think?" he tweeted on Tuesday evening.
McGregor has launched his own whiskey brand and has impressive car collection at his disposal.
But the fighter is planning to return to the Octagon this summer with a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier lined up for July 10.
McGregor lost to the American earlier this year but was quick to seek a rematch.
However, Dana White admits the upcoming bout was almost cancelled just days before it was announced.
"There was a lot of chance that was going to fall apart," he told TSN. "I saw some conspiracy theorists saying that was done to promote the fight – absolutely none of that was done to promote the fight, I can assure you of that.
"We had to go back and forth; we've been doing this for 20 years and this is what we do, we get it done."
