UFC: Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh has had a slip of the tongue ahead of the rematch with Dustin Poirier. Revealing some crucial information.
“Myself and Conor kind of joked the part you look forward to — it’s kind of weird — is that the fight will be over, we’ll be back on the super yacht, we’ll be heading to Dubai, and we’ll all be sitting around staring at our phones watching the highlights back,” Kavanagh said.
“He’ll [McGregor] be pulling it apart, but also enjoying it — enjoying the techniques, the sequences.
“Let’s see if some of the predictions we made amongst ourselves about what will be the damaging shots [come true].”
Then, without taking a breath, Kavanagh added: “Will training mostly in orthodox stance for this whole camp have paid off?”
Just as he was about to continue, Kavanagh stopped talking, with a face like he’d just seen a ghost, before telling Helwani: “Take that away, take that away. Can you cut that out?”
“Yes,” Helwani said.
Well, it stayed in.
Whether McGregor, a career southpaw, has really been training in an orthodox stance all camp is unclear. On Fight Island this Sunday (AEDT), we’ll find out.
