Piers Morgan has hailed Emma Raducanu’s victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo at the US Open as ‘brilliant’ in a Twitter post after the match. The 18-year-old cruised to a two-set win over the world No 41 and could face Ashleigh Barty in the next round of the tournament in New York.
Raducanu did not lose a game during the first set and carried her strong momentum into the second, delivering another hugely impressive showing to register a 6-0 6-1 victory.
The young Brit has emerged as one of the sport’s most exciting prospects since bursting onto the scene at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
She is likely to face her toughest test yet against world No 1 Barty in the fourth round of the US Open, her second Grand Slam to date.
