Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang passes offer of Arsenal’s No.10 shirt to team-mate

Mesut Ozil’s impending Arsenal departure will leave his much-coveted No.10 shirt up for grabs at The Emirates.

And before the German has even finalised his move to Fenerbahce, it appears Gunners stars have already jumped in his grave and began discussing which player will take it next.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has previously spoken of his desire to wear the number, but he faces competition from strike partner Alexandre Lacazette.

Lacazette took to Instagram on Sunday to confirm he is vying for Ozil’s shirt, while alluding to the fact that Aubameyang is also keen.

The France striker posted a picture of himself and Aubameyang alongside a meme that shows two Spiderman characters facing each other with the caption: “When you both want the number 10”.

However, Aubameyang has conceded defeat in the race for the No.10 shirt and told Lacazette he is free to take it.

He replied: “They said they put it away *laughing emojis*

“All yours my bro”.

Mikel Arteta revealed after Arsenal’s 3-0 win at home to Newcastle on Monday night that confirmation of Ozil’s switch to Fenerbahce is imminent, with the midfielder dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s in his contract.

“He's in Turkey now,” Arteta said. “He is going through the medical and there is some paperwork to do.

“When the deal is finalised we will make an announcement.”

Ozil has decided to call time on his seven-year stay at Arsenal after being left out of Arteta’s Premier League and Europa League squads this season.

The 32-year-old, who has been offered a three-year deal by Fenerbahce, posted pictures of himself and his wife arriving in Turkey over the weekend to finalise his move to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
