Inside Andy Murray’s Marbella family holiday as star shares rare pics

Andy Murray took a break from his hectic tennis schedule to take a family holiday in Marbella and shared rare pictures of his children. Murray crashed out of the Miami Open after a first-round straight-sets defeat to Dusan Lajovic, resulting in a gap on his competition calendar before this week’s Monte-Carlo Masters.

The early exit gave the world No 57 time to take a training week in the Spanish seaside resort and afterwards he shared a series of pictures with fans. The three-time Grand Slam winner posted the holiday snaps with the comment: “Just finished a great training week/holiday with my team and family at @puenteromanoresort in Marbella. What a great place thanks so much for looking after us.”

Murray was joined by his wife Kim Sears and their four children, who are rarely pictured. The 35-year-old was pictured lifting one of his children above his head as they sat outside having food in the Spanish heat. Murray and his family also visited the beach and he shared another picture of his children playing with their toy cars at the seaside location.

The British star also confirmed that he was preparing to begin his clay-court season in this week’s Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters where he will compete for the first time since 2017. He was pictured outside a clay court in Marbella where he was thought to have been training for the week.

After a disappointing first round defeat in Miami, Murray kept his cards close to his chest while outlining his plans for the forthcoming clay-court season. However, it has been confirmed that he will meet Australian 14th seed Alex de Minaur in his first match at the Monte-Carlo Masters on Monday.

Murray will be hoping to rekindle the form which saw him reach the round of 32 at Indian Wells last month as his clay-court season commences. The British star will be building his form towards the French Open which he has only competed in once during the last five seasons.

Last year Murray sat out the whole of the clay-court season after splitting with coach coach Jan de Witt following a short-term partnership. Off the court the British star heads to Monte-Carlo after joining the IMG agency, who already work with Emma Raducanu.

Murray said: “I’m looking forward to working with IMG not just for the remainder of my playing career, but with an eye on the future and opportunities both in tennis and in the wider business world.” Murray is already looking ahead to life away from the tennis court and previously became a shareholder in sports and menswear brand Castore in 2019.
