Emma Raducanu might have made a name for herself by winning the US Open, but it seems that tennis may need to take a momentary back seat. The 18-year-old has risen to superstardom thanks to her historic title win in Flushing Meadows, and is the name everyone wants on their TV shows. After attending the Met Gala, the Bromley local is now said to have an invitation to the latest James Bond premiere and has talk show hosts vying to get her on their sofa.

Raducanu made history at the US Open over the weekend, reeling off a list of achievements by lifting her first-ever trophy.

The Brit became the first qualifier in history to make a Major final, let alone win it, and is the first player to win the title on their second appearance at Grand Slam level.

She’s also the first British woman since Virginia Wade 44 years ago to lift a Slam trophy, and the first in 53 years to win the US Open.

After her historic exploits in Flushing Meadows not only made her the next big name in the sporting world but a fully-fledged celebrity in her own right, Raducanu has been receiving invitations to the biggest events and TV shows.

The Bromley teenager has already achieved something most stars dream of – walking the red carpet at the exclusive Met Gala, having received a last-minute invitation with fellow finalist Leylah Fernandez just 48 hours after lifting the trophy.

The requests don’t show any signs of slowing down either, with everyone in the UK eagerly awaiting her return home after her stunning US Open run.

Raducanu is already wanted for another red carpet event, with an invitation to the London premiere of the No Time to Die, the new James Bond film at the end of the month awaiting the teen.

After dazzling on American TV when she appeared on the likes of Good Morning America and The Today Show to speak about her unprecedented win in Flushing Meadows, some of Britain’s biggest talk show hosts also seem to be battling to get her on their sofas.

According to The Times, sources at the BBC’s Graham Norton Show and ITV’s Jonathan Ross Show were vying to secure an interview with the new world No 23 when she returned home.

After Channel 4 reportedly paid a seven-figure sum to Amazon Prime Video for the rights to simulcast the US Open final, they are also now hoping Raducanu will appear on The Last Leg.

The 18-year-old also earned herself a whole host of new fans, though one member of the Royal Family had already been cheering Raducanu on and is now awaiting her return.

The Duchess of Cambridge, a big tennis fan who personally signed off a tweet congratulating the teenager on her US Open win, is expected to go one better and congratulate her in person.

As well as becoming an international star, Raducanu managed to shoot up the rankings thanks to her run to the title in New York.

Entering the qualifying event at the US Open ranked down at No 150 in the world, she is now the new world No 23 and British No 1, meaning she will be able to enter even the highest level tournaments without needing to qualify or be given a wildcard.

She also received a huge £1.8m prize money cheque, eclipsing the £219,282 she had previously earned throughout her career since turning pro in 2018.

Although she is about to become something of a red carpet regular and Britain’s biggest sporting star, Raducanu showed she’s still a humble teenager by announcing the first thing she wanted to buy with her prize money – a pair of £160 AirPods.
