Coco Gauff has explained how she dreams of competing in next week’s women’s Wimbledon final. The 17-year-old American cruised past Slovenian Kaja Juvan on Centre Court on Saturday and wants to play in SW19’s showpiece women’s match.
Gauff defeated Juvan 6-3, 6-3 before an energetic crowd on Centre Court, who got behind her from the off.
The 20th seed has impressed so far during this year’s Wimbledon campaign, winning in straight sets in the first, second and third rounds.
She has now matched her best Wimbledon run, also reaching the last 16 in 2019, and is looking to progress further this time around.
Gauff was characteristically well-spoken as she addressed the Centre Court crowd following her latest triumph.

Two years after making her Central Court debut, Gauff was asked if now she felt at home on Wimbledon’s grandest stage following her win.
“Yeah, coming in today, I wasn’t as nervous as I was in my second round,” Gauff explained.
“But you guys always bring the energy on the court, no matter if you’re rooting for me or not.
“It’s a good feeling to be on this court, and I’m super honoured that the tournament allows me to play on this court.
“It is not often that a 17-year-old gets to play here, so thank you.”

Gauff’s intensity throughout matches has been widely praised, and it was brought up in her post-match interview.
The teenager put her relentless style down to her desire to win every single point she contests.
She said: “Honestly, it’s really not that hard; it’s just because I want to win so bad. I try my best every point.
“So, yeah, to me, I mean I want to win so bad I’m gonna give it my all every time I step on the court.”
Gauff will now face former Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber in the last 16 on Monday.
Ahead of her clash against the 25th seed, Gauff has explained how she dreams about returning to Centre Court in next week’s final.
She said: “Yeah, I dream about it, but I mean, I like to take it one match at a time and focus on the match in front of me.
“Obviously, the goal is to be in front of you guys next week, but I think it’s important that I just focus on the match in front of me and enjoy the moment as it goes.”
