Andy Murray will trial a coach rejected by Emma Raducanu at the Stockholm Open this week.

The former world No.1 has added Esteban Carril to his team for his final event of the season.

And Raducanu revealed she is in a “good position” to appoint a new coach in the annual merry-go-round but cannot announce the name because “it’s not fully done”.

The US Open champion, who is playing the Upper Austria Ladies Linz this week, said: “I had some trials and they went well. I’m in a very good position with it and I will have a coach in place in the Australian Open. It’s just a bit confidential”.

Spaniard Carril, who took Jo Konta into the world’s top ten, underwent a trial with the world No.21 last month and has been working with Katie Swan.

Raducanu has arrived in Austria with her mother Renee for her final event of the year after saying she felt “tired and lethargic” after her quarter-final defeat at the Transylvania Open.

“After Cluj, I wasn’t very well,” she said. “I had five negative PCR results, so it’s not COVID. I started training on Thursday. Now I’m in a much better place.”

The world No.21 and top seed has a first-round bye and will face Ukraine Kateryna Kozlova of Ukraine or China’s Xinyu Wang on Tuesday.

The 18-year-old, meanwhile, has also insisted that her tennis career is her priority in a strong message after following up appearances at the Met Gala and the James Bond premiere by starring in a Sports Direct advert.

“I made it very, very clear to every single person in my team that I was not going to cancel one training session or practice session for any off court commitments,” said the US Open champion.

“I wanted to make sure that that is my priority, and it is. so everyone’s clear about that. But it’s just managing my time with the commitments around that.

“I have been quite busy since the US Open, but I felt like that was gonna come with it and like, I didn’t expect as much but yeah, I’ve been really enjoying everything since the US Open.

“It’s been quite a roller coaster in terms of like where I started to where I’m finishing

“But, you know, that was in the past. And now I’m looking forward. But I don’t really want to dwell on it too much because I feel like I’ve got new goals and new things to achieve and do it and those are my goals and aspirations but yeah, I think that this is the last tournament of the season. So I’m looking forward to this week to have a positive end to the year. My goal here is to have fun.”
