Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss his reunion with Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Europa League after picking up a thigh injury, keeping him out for three weeks.

The Swede, who spent one-and-a-half seasons with the Red Devils, limped off after 56 minutes in AC Milan's 2-1 win over Roma.

And Italian outlet La Gazetta have reported that he picked up an adductor injury in his upper leg, keeping him out for three weeks.

This will see him miss out on Milan's Europa League round-of-16 trip to Old Trafford on 11 March.

Ibrahimovic arrived at United in 2016 as a free agent from PSG, going on to score 28 goals in his first season to secure League Cup and European honours.

But Jose Mourinho limited him to just seven games the following season, leading to an MLS move with LA Galaxy in March 2018.

Ibrahimovic arrived in Milan last year, returning for a second stint on the red side of the San Siro.

And he has continued to find the back of the net, scoring 11 goals last season and 16 so far this year to put his side second in Serie A.

The 39-year-old enjoyed a spell earlier this season of scoring eight goals in five games before picking up a muscle injury.

While United may have been hopeful of keeping their former forward quiet, with just one Europa League goal to his name this year.

And Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relishing the chance to welcome Ibrahimovic back to Old Trafford when the round-of-16 draw was announced last month.
