The brand new Barclays Women’s Super League season is finally here, with more silverware up for grabs. But there are still plenty of questions yet to be answered, including whether Chelsea will retain their WSL title, or whether Manchester United will be able to break into the elusive Champions League spots this year.
Chelsea won last season’s WSL, winning dropping just six points after 22 matches.
They were closely followed by Manchester City, who finished two points behind the Blues.
Chelsea, City and Arsenal all finished in the Champions League places – although City and Arsenal will need to go through qualification.
United will be hoping to break into the top three, while Everton are also looking good ahead of the new campaign.
Chelsea are once again hot favourites to win the WSL title.
City are Emma Hayes’s most likely competition, with the Citizens hoping to claim only their second league title.
Arsenal are most likely to make up the Champions League places, with United relatively far behind in the betting.
Everton are 100/1 outsiders for the WSL title, while Tottenham are currently at 250/1.

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom told Express.co.uk: “It comes as no surprise to see Chelsea as the 10/11 favourite to win a fourth Women’s Super League title in five seasons given their recent dominance.
“Manchester City are 17/10 to repeat their 2016 triumph having finished runners-up for the past four years.
“Meanwhile, Arsenal (16/5) could give unhappy Gunners fans something to cheer about this season.
“We can expect plenty of action in Chelsea’s opening clash against Arsenal on Sunday with over 2.5 goals 1/2 and under 7/5 to kickstart the season.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea and Australia star Sam Kerr is favourite to finish the season as top goalscorer.
Kerr won the Golden Boot last season, scoring 21 goals in 22 games.
Vivianne Miedema is second favourite for the crown, with Fran Kirby just behind.
New City striker Khadija Shaw is 14/1 to win the Golden Boot.
Rosbottom said: “Elsewhere, Chelsea’s Sam Kerr is being backed as the 11/8 favourite to win a second consecutive Golden Boot, while the WSL’s all-time top scorer Vivianne Miedema follows closely behind at 17/10 to top the charts.”
