- It was daubed with a message believed to relate to the death of a life-long fan
- The news comes a day before the Ryan Reynolds-owned club’s victory parade
Wrexham supporters have reacted with disgust and disappointment after a mural was defaced with an apparent reference to the death of a fan.
The Welsh club, owned by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, gained promotion from the fifth-tier National League this season.
Wrexham’s victory parade through the city was planned for Tuesday, May 2. But on Monday, one day before, vandals scribbled offensive messages over a mural celebrating their promotion on Crispin Lane.
One message is believed to relate to the death of a life-long fan, with ‘CFC’ and ‘125’ also scrawled on the mural in an apparent reference to Wrexham’s arch-rivals Chester FC. ‘125’ is Chester’s frontline fan gang, or ‘firm’.
The mural features a hand-painted red dragon, the symbol of the club, and the slogan ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, in reference to the popular Disney+ TV show documenting the club’s rise.

One said: ‘What an awful thing to do. Jealousy at its worst.’
A second added: ‘They’ve shamed their city and club.’
Another tweeted: ‘I’m from Chester and don’t understand why people would do this. Shame on them.’
While one posted: ‘Flintshire Council need to re possess their ground and turn it into a Sewage farm!’
A fifth continued: ‘Omg! That is awful.’
Another concluded: ‘And this is why Wrexham hate Chester. Horrible jealous disgusting. Shame on you! #WrexhamAFC #WrexhamFX #WxmAFC.’
