Serie A giants Inter and AC Milan have been linked with Kossounou, who is in his first season in Belgium after leaving Swedish club Hammarby.

Brugge are aware that the player is keen on a move to the Premier League and will hold out for a big fee.

Liverpool previously made enquiries about the Ivorian defender, but decided to sign Ozan Kabak on loan from Schalke instead.

Wolves have already received a defensive boost after Spanish wing-back Jonny signed a new four-and-a-half deal at Molineux.

The 26-year-old Spain international has been unavailable for the past six months with a cruciate ligament injury. He played an integral role in helping the Midlands club secure back-to-back seventh placed finishes in the Premier League.

It’s been a disappointing campaign for Wolves so far; they’ve struggled for wins after striker Raul Jimenez got injured during their 2-1 win at Arsenal in November.

However, recent back-to-back league wins over Southampton and Leeds have moved them up to 11th in the table.

Next up for Wolves is a trip to Newcastle on Saturday 27 February.
