The 2023-24 Premier League season is around the corner as clubs start to look ahead to the new campaign.

Manchester City will be looking to pick up their fourth title in a row after finishing five points ahead of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal last season.

Arsenal will be looking to go one better this season and have already made big strides in the transfer window. The Gunners recently completed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea for £65million and have reached agreement with West Ham to sign Declan Rice for £105m.

While the Premier League fixtures were released earlier this month, the Premier League have yet to confirm which games will be broadcast live on TV.

When will the TV fixtures be released?

As of yet, the Premier League are yet to announce the TV fixtures for the new season.

The league’s official line reads: ‘The Premier League has committed to giving supporters a minimum of six weeks’ notice (from the first match in the relevant month) on broadcast selections until December 2023, and five weeks’ from January 2024 until Match Round 37.’

While the Premier League are yet to announce which games will be shown live ahead of the new season, Mail Sport understands that the first batch is expected to be confirmed in the next week.

Last season, the Premier League announced TV fixtures for the first two months of the campaign on July 5.

The Championship have already released TV fixtures for the new season, with Sheffield Wednesday vs Southampton set to be the first game broadcast live on Friday, August 4.

Leicester City’s first game back in the Championship will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports. The Foxes will host Coventry on Sunday, August 6.

When does the season start?

Manchester City will begin their title defence with a trip to Premier League new boys Burnley.

The fixture is the curtain-raiser to the season on Friday, August 11 and is set to kick off ay 8pm. The storylines will be aplenty as Burnley boss and City legend Vincent Kompany welcomes the Treble-winners up as his first-ever game in the top flight.

Arsenal will begin the new season at home to Nottingham Forest, while Manchester United host Wolverhampton Wanderers.  

The standout fixture of the opening weekend is a blockbuster clash between Chelsea and Liverpool, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 13 (4.30pm KO) – in what will be Mauricio Pochettino’s first competitive game at the helm of the Blues.

Luton Town, who will be playing in the top flight for the first time since 1992, will face Brighton on Saturday, August 12 in their first game.

When does the season end?

Next season’s final round of fixtures will be held on Sunday, May 19 2024, when all games kick off simultaneously as usual. 

The schedule is set to return as normal following the World Cup in 2022. Over the last few seasons, the Covid-19 pandemic has also disrupted the Premier League schedule.

Pep Guardiola’s City side will end the season with a home clash against West Ham, while Arsenal host Everton.

The standout fixture of the final weekend of the season will see Brighton host Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
