West Ham 'unhappy' with new Arsenal bid for Declan Rice
West Ham are not fully satisfied with Arsenal’s new £105 million offer for Declan Rice, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta has made Rice one of his priority targets for the summer transfer window but the Gunners are yet to reach an agreement with West Ham.
Two bids from Arsenal have already been rejected and the Gunners now face competition from Manchester City, who saw their opening offer of £80m plus a further £10m in add-ons turned down this week.
West Ham are holding out for a £100m fee and Arsenal have now gone beyond that figure with their latest proposal which is worth £105m.
However, The Guardian reports that West Ham are ‘unhappy with the payment structure’ offered by Arsenal and will continue talks with the Gunners.
The report claims that West Ham have not yet rejected the bid and are expecting City to return with an improved bid on Wednesday.
Arsenal’s latest offer for Rice – which would become a British transfer record if accepted – is £100m up front plus a further £5m in add-ons.
The Guardian also report that Arsenal may need to submit a revised bid of £110m in order to reach an agreement with West Ham.
Rice was initially intent on joining Arsenal this summer, however, City’s concrete interest poses a threat to Arteta’s hopes of signing one of his chief targets.
City completed the signing of Mateo Kovacic in a £30m deal from Chelsea on Tuesday but remain in the market for another central midfielder following Ilkay Gundogan’s decision to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
