West Ham fans find ex-Prem wingers bar – and forgive him for relegating them

West Ham fans have been forced to forgive one ex-player who helped send them down from the Premier League 20 years ago as they flood Silkeborg ahead of their Europa Conference tie on Thursday.

The Hammers were greeted by a smiley Henrik Pedersen who happens to own and run a sports bar in his native Denmark called Sportspubben Målet after he hung up his boots.

The former Bolton Wanderers forward became a fan favourite during his time at the Reebok Stadium and helped the Whites stay up in the 2002/03 season, which saw West Ham relegated at their expense.

Fans travelling to the Scandinavian country for their match were more than shocked as Pedersen, now 47 years old, served them ice-cold pints of lager in his sports bar.

The Official West Ham United Supporters Club took to Twitter to share their glee. They said: "Ex @SilkeborgIF and Bolton player Henrik Pedersen keeping us @westham fans hydrated in his bar! We’ve forgiven him for relegating us all those years ago!"

Even Silkeborg got involved in the fun, with the side replying: "LEGEND!"

West Ham are set to take on Silkeborg in their second group match of the competition tonight after they demolished FCSB 3-1 at home last week.
