West Ham are monitoring Japanese teenage prospect Keisuke Goto.

The exciting 18-year-old centre forward from Jubilo Iwata is 6ft 3ins tall and was due to represent his country at the World U20 Championships but for injury.

Goto stands out with his physical attributes. Despite his height, he is quick and often drops deep to pick up possession before breaking into the box.

He has scored five goals so far this season in 17 appearances and made one assist.

Capped throughout his youth career by his country, he is being tipped to make a breakthrough into the full squad over the next year if he continues his progression.

They also want midfielders given Declan Rice looks bound for Arsenal this summer

Everton have also watched Goto but there is particularly strong interest from Sevilla, where former Leeds sporting director Victor Orta has taken up position, Italian giants Juventus and Feyenoord.

Goto could be brought into the UK under the GBE rule where young players of exceptional talent that don’t qualify to work here under the normal points system are given exemption.

West Ham are keen to bolster their squad with younger players and want to add height, particularly with Declan Rice bound for Arsenal while they could also lose Thilo Kehrer.

They agreed in April to sign 17-year old left winger Sean Moore from Cliftonville as one for the future. They are discussing a potential £22m move for Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott and have made approaches for the likes of Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria, Tyler Adams of Leeds United, Southampton’s James-Ward-Prowse and Leicester’s Harvey Barnes.

Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez has also been considered particularly as Borussia Dortmund have dropped their rival interest.
