Wayne Rooney names Tevez as favourite Man Utd star and blasts club over transfer
Wayne Rooney has named Carlos Tevez his favourite Manchester United team-mate while blasting the “devastating” manner in which the Argentine left.
Rooney linked up with Tevez from 2007 to 2009 after the forward signed on a two-year loan deal from West Ham.
The pair were known for their tremendous work-rate and excellent goal-scoring ability, winning back-to-back Premier League titles and a Champions League winners’ medal together.
And Rooney, who played alongside a whole host of world class players in his 17 years at the club, has no doubt Tevez was the player that suited his own playing style the most.
When asked by SPORTbible who his favourite player to play alongside was, Rooney said: “Tevez. I just loved our connection.
"The two of us up front, we complimented each other really well.
“Normally if I played with Louis Saha, Ruud van Nistelrooy or Robin van Persie – these strikers were always the No.9 and I’d play as a No.10.
“With Tevez we could rotate, I’d be the No.9, he’d take the No.9 spot and I’d be No.10. When we lost the ball we’d be like two bulls trying to get it back.

“As a strike partner, he was the one I enjoyed playing with the most.”
United were unable to sign the bullish striker at the end of his loan spell due to complications with his third-party ownership, meaning Tevez controversially signed for rivals Manchester City in summer 2009.
The transfer left Rooney gutted as the Englishman later handed in a transfer request due to concerns surrounding the direction of the club.
He added: “[It was] devastating. I enjoyed playing with him that much and I knew something was going on because there was the issue with his ownership in terms of whether it was the club or an agent.
“It was actually very cheap to buy him and for whatever reason we didn’t buy him. I think Man City got him for about £20million, which is incredible really.
“You saw what a great player he was when he went there. I was devastated.”
