Watch: Bukayo Saka shocked during emotional reunion with his old PE teacher
Bukayo Saka has taken almost everything in his stride over the course of his rapid rise to the top, but even he was taken aback upon receiving a surprise phone call from his former PE teacher.
The 19-year-old was named Arsenal’s player of the season last term following a number of stellar displays and his performances were rewarded with a place in Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad.
Saka has taken to the international scene like a duck to water and was named man of the match following England’s 1-0 win over Czech Republic in their final Euro 2020 group stage game 10 days ago.
The versatile forward also played a hugely influential role in Tuesday’s landmark win over Germany, and is likely to feature, fitness permitting, against Ukraine in Saturday’s quarter-final clash in Rome.
As well as being a model professional, Saka was a keen student during his academic career, recording an impressive four A*s and three As in his GCSE’s.
Ahead of this afternoon’s match, Saka received a shock call from one of his mentor’s at Greenford High School, Mr Harvey, and the Arsenal star was clearly taken aback after being informed of the impact he has made on so many youngsters who share the dream in he has now realised.

Mr Harvey: As I’ve said when he dons that England shirt it’s one of the proudest moments of my teaching career. Seeing him represent the country and slotting into that team and playing with the confidence that he’s playing is something that we as a school are immensely proud of. And personally, like I said it’s been one of the proudest moments of my teaching career. So thank you, Bukayo, continue to do exactly what you’ve been doing.
Saka: Really?
Mr Harvey: Trust me, every lesson I go into now someone mentions your name. I’m watching our GCSE classes and looking after some after school clubs and all of them are mentioning your name evey time I walk past them. So, continue to do what you’re doing, you are literally the talk of your shcool
