Kyle Walker, Bukayo Saka and Ben White have been axed from England's matchday squad for Scotland clash.

Walker had started for the Three Lions in their opening Euro 2020 win over Croatia on Sunday.

Though the Manchester City star is not even in Gareth Southgate's squad for the clash with Scotland on Friday.

He has been left out of the 23-man matchday squad, along with Arsenal star Saka and defender White.

Southgate was allowed to name a 26-man squad for the tournament, though it must be trimmed by three for each fixture.

Competition rules state that the two goalkeepers in the squad must be included on each matchday.

Harry Maguire returns to the squad having missed out against Croatia due to injury, though the Manchester United man does not start.

"Harry will be involved tomorrow," said Southgate at a news conference on Thursday.

"The decision we've got to make is whether he is ready to start, but we're really pleased with his progress.

"He's trained with the team for four or five days now and had no reaction. Of course each session he's involved with he gets more confident. I think he's on a really good path.

"Of course we want everybody available. It causes difficult decisions, but at the moment, this morning on the training pitch we had 26 players training and that's a great situation for us to be in."

The only changes to the starting XI from the 1-0 victory come in defence with Southgate opting to switch both his full-backs.

Reece James comes in for Walker while Luke Shaw replaces Kieran Trippier on the left.

England XI vs Scotland: Pickford, James, Stones, Mings, Shaw, Phillips, Rice, Mount, Foden, Kane, Sterling

Subs: Maguire, Grealish, Henderson, Rashford, Trippier, Ramsdale, Coady, Sancho, Calvert-Lewin, Chilwell, Johnstone, Bellingham
