Kompany said signing Twine was part of his ‘long-term project’ in rebuilding the Burnley side

‘I am buzzing. I have definitely made the right decision joining Burnley,’ Twine told Burnley’s club website.

‘I spoke in depth with the manager and his plans are exciting, it was a no brainer for me to sign. I can’t wait to get started and it feels like the right place for me.’

Kompany said he was ‘delighted’ to sign Twine and that the young attacker was part of his ‘long-term project’ at the Clarets.

Twine was named the 2021/22 EFL League One Player of the Season after a brilliant campaign

‘He’s a player we have looked at for a little while now, we know he can score goals and affect games,’ Kompany said. ‘We’re glad to welcome him to the squad.’

MK Dons head coach Liam Manning told MKM: ‘I cannot speak highly enough of Twiney, first of all as a person and then as a player who has developed tremendously over the past 12 months.

‘We wish him nothing but success moving forwards and I’m sure we all be keeping an eager eye on his future career.’

Vincent Kompany’s hopes of signing Arsenal defender Daniel Ballard for £2million have ended

Kompany is seeking to rebuild Burnley’s squad after their relegation from the Premier League has seen them lose experienced stalwarts Nick Pope, Ben Mee and James Tarkowski.

However his hopes of bolstering a sparse defence took a blow after a £2million deal to sign Arsenal’s Daniel Ballard fell through.

Despite the 22-year-old travelling to Turf Moor for a medical, the two sides could not agree terms, according to The Athletic.

While looking very close to signing, Burnley and Ballard could not agree personal terms

Ballard has yet to play for the Gunners, but has enjoyed successful loan spells at Blackpool and Millwall and has also played for Northern Ireland.

He made 33 appearances for Championship side Millwall last term, having initially impressed in 30 League One matches for Blackpool in 2020-21.

That goes with the 15 caps he has earned for his country following his debut in 2020 in the Nations League against Romania.
