Victor Osimhen’s ‘wonder assist’ makes Chelsea fans beg ‘Todd Boehly please’

Victor Osimhen's wonderful assist had Chelsea fans begging Todd Boehly to sign the Napoli forward.

Osimhen, 24, has been frequently linked with a move to the Premier League giants, ever since his 26 goals and five assists in 32 league matches fired the Neapolitans to their first Serie A title since the days of Diego Maradona last season. While his campaign has been relatively quiet, Osimhen put himself back on the radar with a wonderful assist for his team-mate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in Walter Mazzari's side's 2-1 victory over Cagliari.

Osimhen controlled the ball, held of four players while juggling it in the air with his foot, chest and head, before cutting the ball back for the Georgian to hammer home the winning goal. After his wonderful bit of improvisation, Chelsea fans begged Boehly to meet the purported £112million release clause it would take to sign the Nigerian.

One fan tagged the American venture capitalist on X and said: "Todd Boehly, please!" A second added: "Why should Boehly not pay £112m for this guy?"

A third Chelsea fan sounded rather desperate when they wrote: "£150m, I don't even care anymore. Come on Mr Money Man." A fourth echoed these sentiments when they wrote: "Chelsea, go break the bank for this man. Just a monster striker."

Ironically, Chelsea summer signing Nicolas Jackson equalled Osimhen's league tally for the Premier League season with his goal in the Blues' 2-0 home victory over Sheffield United. Jackson has seven Premier League goals and one assist, while Osimhen has seven goals and two Serie A assists for Napoli this season.

However, Jackson's place is certainly not safe, particularly when Pochettino appeared to say he wants to sign more players in the January transfer window after the Blues' 2-0 loss to Everton. After bemoaning Chelsea's lack of cutting edge in front of goal, the ex-Tottenham Hotspur manager said: "We need to analyse the reality.

"We need to talk and to try to improve in the next transfer market. We are dealing with this. After five months, or the first half of the season, we need to check and that's the reality.

"If we are not aggressive enough (on the pitch) maybe we need to do something." Chelsea moved from 12th to 10th with their victory over the relegation battlers. They are currently 12 points away from fourth placed Manchester City.
