United already have perfect Fernandes alternative as pre-season footage emerges

Rival supporters often say Bruno Fernandes carries Manchester United on his back.

And there’s little surprise Red Devils’ fans find themselves on the receiving end of taunts, considering the Portuguese star contributed an incredible 28 goals and 17 assists in all competitions last season.

He also made a staggering 58 appearances, featuring in every single Champions League and Europa League match for his side.

Throughout the season there were fears the former Sporting Lisbon star would burn out from all the game time, and those concerns came true at Euro 2020.

Unfortunately, he was not able to replicate his club form in the Euros as Portugal manager Fernando Santos dropped him for their final two matches against France and Belgium.

Many have attributed his bluntness at this summer’s tournament to post-season fatigue, where manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rarely dropped him despite having Donny Van De Beek on the bench.

However, judging from United’s pre-season action they have the perfect man to take over the reins when needed as footage of youngster Tahith Chong hitting a scorcher in training has emerged from the Manchester United website.

At the end of their session, United did an exercise where the players were encouraged to striker wherever possible.

The 21-year-old is a very exciting talent and United fans have been waiting patiently to see him dazzle on a regular basis at Old Trafford.

After receiving a pass, Chong evaded the experienced Nemanja Matic, reducing him to a mere free-kick man, before hammering home a crisp, left-footed finish into the bottom left corner.

His effort was greeted with joy by the staff and players, and he was deservedly awarded the goal of the day.

Who knows, maybe we could see both Chong and Fernandes carrying the club like the Chuckle Brothers soon.
