Inter Milan have opened up talks with representatives of Valencia and U.S. midfielder Yunus Musah over a possible transfer in January after the 20-year-old impressed at the World Cup in Qatar.
Inter’s top brass, led by club CEO Guiseppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio, want to provide depth to Simone Inzaghi’s squad in case of injury to key players, including Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolo Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Italian club is currently in the Champions League’s Round of 16 and will first face Porto in February before playing the second leg in March.
Yunus Musah, 20, could be on the move in January after impressing at the 2022 World Cup
The Nerazzurri are also sitting in 5th place in Serie A and will look to make a second-half push to their season to consecutively qualify for Europe’s elite competition.
For now, Inter is offering a loan move with a right to buy option set at $20million at the end of the season, according to Football News 24 Italia.
Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing and could be unlocked in the next few days, as the January transfer window opens after the new year.
The 20-year-old U.S. international was a starter in all of his country’s four games this winter
Italian midfielder Roberto Gagliardini, 28, could be thrown into the deal for Inter to sign Musah
It is believed that Valencia value Musah highly and are seeking a fee around $40million, Sempre Inter reported.
The move should, in any case, be linked to the sale of 28-year-old Italian midfielder Roberto Gagliardini, who could be offered to Valencia to balance the Nerazzurri’s books.
The former Atalanta man’s valuation is currently at $6.5million, according to Transfermarkt.
It remains to be seen, however, if the La Liga club would be interested in acquiring any of Inter’s players as part of a deal for Musah.
