Transfer news LIVE: Liverpool target approval, Arsenal star stalling

Leeds United v Liverpool: Pictures

Liverpool’s 6-1 win over Leeds on Monday night highlighted that Jurgen Klopp’s squad still has star quality in the final third. However, the result should not be an excuse from the higher powers at Anfield to not approve of transfer plans currently being worked on because the Reds – like other top clubs – are in desperate need of a rebuild.

Along with Manchester United and Chelsea, Liverpool are expected to embark on a serious reshuffle over the summer. Klopp’s midfield ranks continue to look short of the quality required to challenge for silverware, and several signings in that department are a priority.

Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and Ryan Gravenberch are among the names linked with a move to Merseyside, but other Premier League clubs are also monitoring their progress in hope of a cut-price deal in the summer.

Express Sport brings you all the latest transfer news on Monday, April 18…

Gallagher interest continues to grow

Several sides are hopeful of signing Chelsea star Conor Gallagher, who is reportedly set to be deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool were one of 10 clubs wanting to acquire the England international in January and will reignite their interest in the summer.

Brighton, Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring Gallagher’s developments as an exit looks more and more likely when the campaign concludes.

Reiss Nelson reluctant to sign new deal

Arsenal and Reiss Nelson are yet to agree on a new contract despite an offer being on the table from his boyhood club, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners are growing fearful that the 23-year-old could leave the Emirates Stadium this summer as a free agent, with several Premier League clubs circling that can offer him regular game time.

West Ham, Fulham, Aston Villa and Brighton are among those to hold an interest in Nelson, though the forward remains keen to stay at Arsenal if possible.

With talks stalling and an agreement no closer to being reached, it remains to be seen how Arsenal play their cards over the coming weeks.

Gravenberch approves of Liverpool move

Liverpool have reportedly agreed to pay Bayern Munich playmaker £200,000 a week in hope of bringing him to Anfield.

According to The Mirror, the Dutchman has now informed the Reds that he is willing to join the club this summer and should open talks with Bayern about a deal.

Gravenberch is said to earn £100,000-a-week at the Allianz Arena after tax, though his wage demands were not deemed an issue in preliminary talks recently.
