The clock is really beginning to tick down now with just five days remaining of the January transfer window. Premier League managers up and down the country will no doubt be desperate for their clubs to work some last-minute magic and bring in a quality reinforcement or two to boost their squads ahead of the second half of the season.
Arsenal have been the name on everyone’s lips due to their sensational campaign so far, and the Gunners have also been active in January, splashing out on signing winger Leandro Trossard from Brighton and defender Jakub Kiwior from Spezia. Mikel Arteta’s desire for a central midfielder is well-known, though, and Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi is the latest name mentioned as a possibility. Could there be a breakthrough in a move for the 23-year-old today?
Elsewhere, Manchester United are another of the elite sides hoping for at least one more signing. Rumour has it that Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries’ agent is currently in England and ready to hold talks with potential suitors over a deal. But will the Red Devils be able to hold off the competition and get their man?
Meanwhile, Leeds are after Juventus’ Weston McKennie, Tottenham are closing in on Sporting wing-back Pedro Porro and Chelsea are eyeing Brighton’s Moises Caicedo. But will there be enough time to get the deals done? You can find out right here.

Arsenal told to pay up for Zubimendi
Arsenal have been told they must pay Martin Zubimendi’s £53million release clause in order to strike a deal with Real Sociedad.
That’s according to The Times, who say the Gunners are tracking the supremely-talented midfielder alongside Spanish giants Barcelona.
Real Sociedad were able to tie Zubimendi down to a new contract in October meaning they hold all the cards over a potential sale.
The 23-year-old maestro is said to be very highly rated by Mikel Arteta and Edu, who are scanning the market for a new midfielder to bolster Arsenal’s Premier League title push.
Chelsea see double deal collapse
Chelsea have suffered a double blow in their attempt to bring in more January recruits for Graham Potter.
Todd Boehly had been looking to sign Amadou Onana and Malo Gusto but neither deal will be happening this month.
Onana has reportedly told Chelsea he wants to remain at Everton until the end of the season to bolster their Premier League survival bid.
Meanwhile, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has ruled out the departure of Gusto – stating the right-back will be remaining in France until at least the end of the season.
Newcastle swap bid rejected
Newcastle reportedly saw a swap deal offer rejected by Everton for Anthony Gordon earlier in the window.
The Mail are reporting that the Magpies offered Everton the chance to sign Chris Wood as part of the proposal.
But the Toffees were not interest in the move and instead declined before Wood signed for Nottingham Forest on an initial loan with an obligation to buy.
Meanwhile, Gordon is still attempting to force through a transfer to Newcastle as he continues to skip Everton training.
