Transfer MYTH-buster! The latest on Ronaldo, Depay, De Jong and more.

Transfer MYTH-buster! Cristiano Ronaldo ISN’T bound for Sporting Lisbon (but don’t rule anything out), Man United AREN’T keen on re-signing Memphis Depay, the TRUTH on Chelsea’s negotiations… and Frenkie De Jong talks WILL go to the wire

  • Wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t swapping Manchester for Lisbon…yet
  • Chelsea continuing talks with Barcelona for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
  •  Bernardo Silva still interesting PSG but could be too late for a deal to be done
  • Anthony Gordon still keen to leave Goodison Park for Tottenham or Chelsea

The clock is ticking on the summer transfer window, with less than a week to go before next Thursday’s deadline day.

The futures of some big names still remain unclear, with a whole host of Premier League clubs still looking to wrap up their transfer business.

Sportsmail clears up some of the rumours and clarifies where we are at with some of the biggest possible deals in this window.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United have denied reports that Cristiano Ronaldo is set for a shock move back to his first club Sporting Lisbon.

The Portuguese superstar has made no secret of his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer for a Champions League club, but a number of sides have turned down the opportunity to sign the 37-year-old.

At the moment rejoining Lisbon isn’t on the cards, but it’s a move that can’t be ruled out before the end of the window.

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United and could head back to Sporting Lisbon

Memphis Depay

Dutch star Depay is looking for a way out of Barcelona, however it won’t be by way of a return to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have ruled out a move for the 28-year-old as well as Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio as they concentrate on a deal for Ajax star Antony.

Depay saw a move to Juventus collapse earlier this week and has been frozen out of Barca, thanks to the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

There will be no Manchester United comeback for Memphis Depay as the club ruled out a deal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Chelsea remain in talks with Barcelona over the signing of former Arsenal man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but have yet to agree a fee.

Barcelona are said to be looking for around £25million for the striker, while there also remains a question mark on whether Marcus Alonso will be part of the deal.

The Catalans are said to be keen to keep the Alonso move separate, but Chelsea would prefer the move to be part of the Aubameyang agreement.

The deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is being held up by the status of Marcus Alonso

Bernardo Silva

It seems startling that Manchester City would consider letting Bernardo Silva leave the club, but the Portuguese has been linked with a move away all summer – with Barcelona most keen.

However, PSG are now interested in signing the influential midfielder and adding him to their array of stars in Paris.

Yet, the French club believe that any deal for the 28-year-old would be unlikely this late in the transfer window.

PSG are the latest club to try and tempt Bernardo Silva away in a shock move from Man City

Anthony Gordon

Both Chelsea and Tottenham remain interested in bringing in Everton’s talented young star before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The Toffees are reluctant to sell one of the prized assets, but it is believed that Gordon would like to leave the club.

Chelsea remain in the driving seat, but manager Frank Lampard has denied a £60million bid has been made by his former club.

Anthony Gordon is keen to leave Everton for a Champion League club is a deal can be agreed

 Frenkie de Jong

It’s the transfer saga that has gone all summer, and yet it still doesn’t look like it’s going away before next week’s deadline.

Manchester United have been in talks with De Jong for most of the summer, however if any deal does go through, it is likely to be a last minute transfer.

The Dutchman is still waiting on Barcelona to come to some compromise on the wages he is owed before any move away can be completed.

Frenkie de Jong won’t be going anywhere until he sorts out the money owned to him by Barca
