Tottenham’s search for a replacement for Jose Mourinho is set to enter a second month after the club reportedly backed out of talks with Antonio Conte. The Italian had emerged as the frontrunner for the job over recent days, with Daniel Levy making him the preferred candidate.

But those talks appear to be at an end, with Matt Law of The Telegraph tweeting that Spurs have “called off” their interest.

Conte becomes the latest manager to drop out of the running, with Hansi Flick and Julien Nagelsmann also snubbing the Tottenham job.

It leaves club chairman Daniel Levy scrambling for a new appointment, with a major rebuild required to return Spurs to their targeted status of top four contenders.

Here, Daily Express Sport looks at four options that are left for Levy as he attempts to bring the drawn-out process to an end.

Nuno Espirito Santo

The Portuguese boss departed Wolves at the end of the campaign just gone after a highly-successful four-year spell in the Midlands.

Nuno guided Wolves to back-to-back seventh place finishes in the Premier League, as well as setting a new club record for points in a Championship season.

Though they suffered a downturn in performances last season, the job Nuno did was still an impressive one, with the former goalkeeper appearing to be ready to make a step up.

Graham Potter

The Englishman has impressed at Brighton, implementing a totally different style of play to predecessor Chris Hughton and keeping the Seagulls in the top-flight.

While he is not a star name such as Conte, Potter would appear to be in a better place than most to lead the project that Levy has stated he wants going forward.

Zinedine Zidane

On the face of it, Zidane joining Tottenham for the upcoming season seems incredibly unlikely, with Spurs being a noticeable drop-down from Real Madrid.

But with the Frenchman having left Los Blancos, the Tottenham job is one of the few big team vacancies in Europe currently, which could tempt Zidane to move to the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino

Bringing Pochettino back to North London would certainly be popular with supporters, with the Argentine reportedly unhappy with life at Paris Saint-Germain.

Levy has previously stated that he is searching for a manager who can replicate the job that Pochettino did in his first spell with the club.

With such a manager proving difficult to find, Spurs could simply attempt to bring back the man himself to lead their new rebuild.
