Tottenham have been urged to sign a replacement for Harry Kane, who is described as being “different class”. The Premier League side finally ended their 72-day hunt for a new manager by appointing Nuno Espirito Santo last week, with the club’s transfer business ready to get underway.
Top of their shopping list is a new striker, with captain Kane agitating for a departure from the club this summer.
The Englishman is Tottenham’s best player and once again took home the Premier League golden boot in the campaign just gone.
But Spurs’ performance levels have not matched his own, with Kane still yet to win his first major trophy as a player.
The frustrations over Tottenham’s inability to challenge at the top level was compounded by a season in which they finished eighth in the top-flight.
Though he still has three years left to run on his contract, Kane has now made it clear to club chiefs that he wants to depart.

The 27-year-old will command an incredibly high fee, but Spurs have long lacked a quality back-up for the times when Kane is injured or merely needs to be rested.
That means a striker should be high on the agenda for Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy as they finally begin their club’s transfer business.
And former Tottenham star Darren Anderton believes the player they should buy is Raul Jimenez, who enjoyed great success under Nuno at Wolves.
“It’s not an easy job to come into and the Kane situation will make it even more difficult if what we think is going to happen does happen and he moves on,” Anderton told the Daily Mirror.

“When Gareth Bale first went to Real Madrid, everyone said, ‘Wow, how do we replace him?’ And we went out and spent some good money, some not so good money.
“But we became a better club and a better team off the back of that and that’s what you have to hope for again.
“There’s no reason why not, there’s still loads of talent within the squad and I would love for Nuno to bring Jimenez in.
“He’s a different class. Oh, my God, what a player. He had that horrific injury but managers usually bring in a player or two from their old club so, fingers crossed, there’s an opportunity for that to happen.”
Jimenez has been a consistent goalscorer since moving to Wolves in 2018, scoring 30 goals combined in his first two seasons in England.
But he was hit with a horrific head injury early into last season, which ruled him out for much of the campaign.
The Mexican scored four goals in his first 10 Premier League games of the season before suffering a skull fracture against Arsenal, which has kept him sidelined ever since.
Wolves are set to overhaul their squad this season having parted company with Nuno, with Jimenez one of their most sellable assets.
