Tottenham’s chances of signing Juventus forward Paulo Dybala are set to be given a boost when the club appoints Fabio Paratici as their new sporting director, according to reports.
Paratici departed Juventus last week following an 11-year spell with the Italian giants and is widely expected to be offered a job with the Premier League side.
The 48-year-old played an important role in Dybala’s move from Palermo to Juventus in 2016 and could be key in Spurs finally securing their long-term transfer target.
Juventus signed Dybala for £26.5million and it is widely regarded as one of Paratici’s best pieces of business.
Tottenham reportedly came close to signing the Argentine last summer but the move did not materialise.

Dybala has fallen down the pecking order at the Old Lady ever since the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018.
Ronaldo was signed in an £86m deal and has gone on to score 101 goals in 133 appearances.
Meanwhile, Dybala started only 14 Serie A matches for Juventus last season and scored just four times.
The 27-year-old’s campaign was hugely impacted by a Medial Collateral Ligament injury which kept him out from January to April.

Juventus surprisingly struggled in the Italian top-flight, missing out on their 10th consecutive title. They came fourth during Andrea Pirlo’s first season in charge and the former Italy midfielder was sacked last week.
According to Italian outlet Sport Media Set, Pirlo could be joined in exiting by Dybala once Tottenham appoint Paratici as their new sporting director.
Paratici is set to join the north Londoners and his appointment is not understood to fall through even though Spurs failed to agree a deal with Antonio Conte to replace Jose Mourinho as head coach.
Mourinho was manager when the club tried to sign Dybala last summer.
Spurs wanted to sign an attacker to complete a potent front three alongside Harry Kane and Heun-min Son.
They eventually signed Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid. The Welshman scored 11 goals in 20 top-flight appearances during the 2020-21 season.
Dybala confirmed Tottenham’s interest last summer but said that he did not wish to leave at the time.
“It was [2019] at this point when Juventus didn’t want to count on me, didn’t want me to continue playing here,” Dybala told CNN.
“That’s when I was contacted and there were some clubs that were interested in me. Among those were Manchester United and Tottenham.
“I think for a long time there were conversations, then Paris Saint-Germain also appeared.
“I did not speak directly to any of them, but there were conversations with the clubs. However, my intention at the time was to stay.
“I hadn’t had a good year or a positive last six months, so I didn’t want to leave with that image because I think I had given the club a lot of nice moments and it wasn’t fair that I went like this.”
