Tottenham target Nagelsmann ‘wants two things’ from Levy before agreeing to sign
Klopp previews Liverpool's Premier League clash with Tottenham
Julian Nagelsmann is taking his time to consider Tottenham’s managerial vacancy while reportedly waiting for two decisions from chairman Daniel Levy before making a final decision. Spurs have been without a permanent boss since sacking Antonio Conte in March, with Ryan Mason in temporary charge until the end of what’s turned out to be a disappointing campaign.
Joining Nagelsmann on Levy’s reported managerial shortlist is former Spain boss Luis Enrique and Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim. Outgoing Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner, who has also been linked, will be available as a free agent at the end of the campaign.
However, Nagelsmann’s pedigree and potential to oversee a long-term project in north London has left many to conclude that he must top Levy’s wish list. The 35-year-old won the Bundesliga title in his only full season at Bayern Munich, although he was sacked less than a year later.
Nagelsmann therefore has leverage in negotiations with Tottenham, and The Daily Mail claim that his final decision regarding the vacancy could come down to two things.

Firstly, Nagelsmann is holding out for the appointment of a favourable sporting director. Fabio Paratici was forced out of his post at Spurs this campaign after FIFA extended his 30-month ban to worldwide football-related activities.
Levy’s preference on that front is currently unknown, but Bundesliga veteran Johannes Spors and Brentford technical director Lee Dykes are both believed to be in the running to pick up where Paratici left off.
The second thing Nagelsmann wants from Levy is an assurance over the level of control he will hold when it comes to recruitment. The former RB Leipzig boss would surely demand backing in the transfer market to rejuvenate Tottenham’s stale squad, and he wants a powerful say in where the money is spent.
As long as Levy can give Nagelsmann what he wants, reports indicate that Tottenham will have a free run at the German this summer. He was previously linked to Chelsea before falling out of favour after the Blues received mixed reviews from conducting background checks.
Despite parting ways back in March, Bayern would reportedly be due a hefty £10million compensation package if Spurs appoint Nagelsmann. Fellow target Arne Slot, who may be a viable back-up option, would also cost millions if Levy can prise him away from Feyenoord.
Like Nagelsmann, Slot is thought to want significant control over incomings and outgoings at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after holding a position of similar power with the Dutch giants.
