AC Milan are considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga. The Serie A giants have earmarked the Englishman as someone who could provide much-needed defensive cover in their backline
Stefano Pioli’s side have been short for options in the back four, having lost first choice centre-back and captain Simon Kjaer to injury.
The Dane will be side-lined for the rest of the campaign having ruptured his cruciate ligament earlier in the season.
Milan have been linked with a wide variety of defensive options over the course of the window, as they look to keep tabs with Serie A league leaders and fierce rivals Inter Milan.
And a report from Italian outlet Tuttosport, via Football Italia, claims the Rossoneri have requested information about the potential availability of the Spurs defender.

It is also understood that Antonio Conte’s side have slapped a sizeable £21million price tag on the 22-year-old’s head.
While Tanganga is not one of the first names on Conte’s team sheet, great things are expected of the versatile defender.
Having started the north Londoners’ first four matches of Tottenham’s season under Nuno Espirito-Santo, Tanganga looked destined for a season at the heart of the defence this season.
However, his chances became restricted after the club signed Emerson Royal from Barcelona.

Tanganga has started three of Conte’s opening seven Premier League matches but has not made a league appearance since the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in Boxing Day.
While AC Milan appear to be interested in the central defender, who can also play right-back, the Italians could be scared off by his price-tag.
It’s also understood that Tottenham would not be willing to part with the defender on loan until the end of the season.
However, the report also claimed that Spurs’ interest in AC Milan midfielder Frank Kessie could be the catalyst to a series of bartering between the sides.
Kessie has entrenched himself as one of the most exciting midfielders on the continent, yet Milan are facing the prospect of losing the Ivory Coast international on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Tanganga is contracted to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium until 2025, having signed a new deal at the start of last season.
He burst onto the scene during Jose Mourinho’s brief reign at the club, with a stunning performance against Liverpool in January 2020.
Impressed with his impressive debut against Jurgen Klopp’s side, Mourinho started him in five of Tottenham’s next seven Premier League matches, before a back injury scuppered his momentum.
Fast forward to the present day, and Tanganga is a regular presence in Spurs’ match-day squad, if not the starting eleven.
The north Londoners are currently in a promising position, sitting just two points away from fourth placed Arsenal with two games in hand.
