Tottenham have reportedly pinpointed the January transfer window to pull off the signing of coveted Juventus youngster Dejan Kulusevski. Spurs’ director of football, Fabio Paratici, was instrumental in bringing the Swedish international to Turin in the first place, and he is supposedly keen to follow it through by bringing him to north London.

Kulusevski is yet to become a household name, although he is tipped to have a bright future based on last season’s exploits with Juve.

At 21-years-old, he already has 17 caps for Sweden and almost 100 career club appearances since starting his career with Atalanta.

Despite notching seven goals and seven assists last campaign under Andrea Pirlo, he has regularly been left on the bench by returning boss Massimiliano Allegri this time round.

Paratici, who took up his new position at Spurs at the start of the summer, is keen to capitalise on that by making a January move according to the Sunday Mirror.

The report also states that the north London side sent scouts to watch Kulusevski for Juve’s 3-0 Champions League thrashing of Malmo, although the Swede was only given seven minutes to impress.

That will be bittersweet for Tottenham, given that they did not have much chance to see what the youngster is made of.

However, it also suggests that he could be keen for a way out if he continues to be overlooked for a starting spot.

If Allegri continues to favour others until January, Paratici and Nuno Espirito Santo could be in a strong position to strike.

Kulusevski prefers to play on the right-wing, an ideal position for Spurs who are still looking to complete their attacking trio alongside Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.

Bryan Gil was recruited from Sevilla to provide some competition in that regard, although the 20-year-old seems more like one for the future than someone who can pull up trees this season.

Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn both provide solid work-rate and pace on the right, but an extra touch of star quality could make the difference for Nuno’s side.

Spurs have ultimately tried and failed to fill that third attacking spot over the years, and Kulusevski could be their next attempt at getting it right.

Nuno will be desperate for a difference-maker come January if his side’s poor run of form continues.

They made a strong start to the campaign with three successive 1-0 victories, but two consecutive 3-0 thrashings have followed which leaves them off the pace.

Sunday’s North London Derby will go a long way to telling exactly where Spurs stand in the early stages of their new manager’s tenure.
