Tottenham reportedly have up to five managers they’re looking at to come in as their new head coach in the summer. It’s been several weeks now since Jose Mourinho was unceremoniously sacked by Spurs just a few days before the club’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.

Ryan Mason was given the manager position on a temporary basis, with Tottenham winning back-to-back Premier League games under the 29-year-old.

He isn’t expected to be given the job on a permanent basis moving forward though with Spurs already looking at candidates to come in.

There has already been a setback with Julian Nagelsmann reaching an agreement with Bayern Munich to take charge of the Bundesliga giants at the end of the season.

And Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has also indicated his intentions to stay in the Eredivisie by signing a new one-year contract extension.

However, that may not put Daniel Levy off from making an approach for the highly-rated 51-year-old.

According to The Athletic, Ten Hag’s new deal doesn’t ‘rule him out of contention’ for the Spurs job.

But the report claims that Tottenham are a long way away from making any final decisions.

It is said that nobody has been offered the job as of yet, while no-one has turned it down either.

DON’T MISS

Mourinho being appointed the new Roma manager this week will also reportedly see Spurs pay significantly less in compensation fees to their former boss, meaning Tottenham may well be able to target managers who aren’t out of contract.

Levy supposedly wants to bring in someone who shares the same philosophy as Mauricio Pochettino and would ideally have Premier League experience, although contact has been made with representatives in Germany.

Chief scout Steve Hitchen is reportedly in the midst of drawing up a shortlist of managers, said to be between three and five options.

But it doesn’t seem as though Tottenham are rushing into any decisions before the end of the season.

Mason still has a good chance at securing European football for Tottenham next season as they currently sit sixth in the table.

They’re back in action on Saturday when they take on Leeds before hosting Wolves a week later.

It may well come down to the wire on whether Spurs qualify for next season’s Europa League.

And the main focus for the next few weeks at least will likely be on Spurs’ final four league matches.
