Tottenham gamble could lead to Harry Kane exit with Man Utd circling
‘A dream becomes reality’ – Harry Kane proud in becoming England’s all-time record scorer
Tottenham are preparing to make a gamble on their next managerial appointment which could result in Harry Kane leaving this summer. Manchester United are expected to make a move for the England striker this summer which could be attractive for Kane after a horror season at Spurs.
Former Liverpool star and now Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is thought to be the No 1 pick for Spurs in a shock twist. Alonso learned his trade during three years as manager of Real Sociedad B before being appointed as Leverkusen boss in October.
Under his leadership, Leverkusen have risen from 17th in the Bundesliga to sixth spot and are into the Europa League semi-final. Dutch outlet De Telegraaf says that Alonso is the first choice for Spurs chairman Levy, but is seen as a risk after spending less than a season in first-team management.
Former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has led the German giants to the Bundesliga title and two German Super Cup victories. However, Levy reportedly has two concerns preventing him from hiring the talented German manager.
According to The Sun, Levy is concerned that the 35-year-old might not be respected by the club’s stars due to his young age. Nagelsmann regularly clashed with the Bayern hierarchy before his departure, which could also put Levy off hiring him.
However, the results of Nagelsmann speak for themselves and he was on course for a treble before being controversially sacked by Bayern. If Levy takes the gamble of appointing Alonso over Nagelsmann then Kane might fear another unsettled season and accept a move to Manchester United.

Kane is the top target for Red Devils’ manager Erik ten Hag this summer and his 25 Premier League goals this season would be a huge boost for an improving United side. Kane would provide an upgrade on Anthony Martial and form a formidable strike partnership alongside Marcus Rashford.
Tottenham could demand £100million to begrudgingly sell their star man to Premier League rivals United, but Kane could welcome the move after becoming increasingly frustrated at Spurs. Kane blasted his side as ‘not playing good enough’ as Liverpool capitalised on a defensive error to steal a late 4-3 victory at Anfield last weekend.
