Tottenham are reportedly prioritising other signings while Bryan Gil represents Spain at the Tokyo Olympics. Spurs are understood to have struck a player-plus-cash deal for the attacker that will see Sevilla receive £21million and Erik Lamela in exchange.

Gil spent last season on loan at Eibar where he netted four times in 28 appearances.

The 20-year-old playmaker was expected to be part of Sevilla’s first-team plans next season following two seasons away on loan gaining senior experience.

But now Spurs have swooped to cherry-pick the youngster, although the deal has hit a roadblock.

While everything is agreed, Gil can’t officially complete his move to Tottenham until after the Olympics.

According to Andalusian-based outlet ABC Sevilla, Tottenham have decided to focus their efforts on other transfers for the meantime.

Gil is still set to join Spurs but for now, Paratici is focusing all efforts on other potential incomings.

Cristian Romero could yet follow his Atalanta teammate Pierluigi Gollini to north London.

The Argentine international has already agreed personal terms with Tottenham, as per Fabrizio Romano.

Gollini is now in London ready to complete his move to Spurs and the goalkeeper is hoping Romero will follow.

Tottenham remain locked in talks with Atalanta over a deal and there remains optimism it could happen soon.

Romero has only recently joined Atalanta from Juventus after his option to buy was triggered by last season’s third-placed Serie A side.

Paratici has been a key figure in Tottenham’s pursuit of Romero, who is considered a surprise target in some quarters.
