Tottenham Hotspur chief Fabio Paratici could allow Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie to become the first new signing of the Antonio Conte era. The United States midfielder was regularly linked with a move to North London in the summer, as the Serie A giants were looking to offload some of their supposed dead wood in the transfer window.

However, the dynamic playmaker has surprisingly emerged as a regular starter under Massimiliano Allegri in the new season.

He has started Juventus’ last five Serie A matches, scoring back-to-back goals in their respective 2-1 defeats against Sassulo and Hellas Verona.

But his newfound regularity does not necessarily mean he is untouchable as reports have suggested the Italian giants could still move him on in the next transfer window.

And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the 23-year-old may be allowed to leave the Allianz Arena if an offer of around £17m is offered.

Spurs are also understood to be admirers of the USA international, and with Conte taking over the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, McKennie could be a good reinforcement for the former Juventus manager.

However, Tottenham managing director of football Paratici has said he has not held conversations with Conte about any new signings coming through the door at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

“Not at all. Because we trust a lot in our players. We are focused to be better, like a club, like a team,” said the Italian chief.

“We haven’t spoken about [new] players, we have to be focused on our team and then we will see.

Conte saw his new side stagger to a 3-2 home victory against Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager deployed a very strong team against the Dutch side, and it appeared to pay off spectacularly with a first half blitz.

Son Heung-Min scored the first goal of the new era – as he did under Nuno Espirito-Santo and Jose Mourinho – to give the North Londoners an early advantage.

Lucas Moura doubled the lead less than ten minutes later, before a Jacob Rasmussen own goal appeared to put the game to bed before half-time.

However, Rasmussen made up for his own goal by bringing Vitesse into the game four minutes later, before Matus Bero halved the deficit to just one goal before half-time.

Summer singing Cristian Romero made the match even more uncomfortable for the home side, after he was sent off for two bookable offences in the second period.

Conte gesticulated and barked orders at his team all match, however, they were just about able to hobble over the line and take the three points.
