Jose Mourinho was involved in a heated stand-off with reporter Jan Age Fjortoft after his Roma side were held to a 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Conference League. The Serie A giants were looking to get one over on their Norwegian opponents after being embarrassingly thrashed 6-1 in Scandinavia last month, a wretched performance that saw Mourinho dig out the lack of quality within his squad.

Yet this was a game Roma would have lost had it not been for Roger Ibanez’s 84th-minute equaliser towards the closing stages of the match.

Bodo/Glimt were ahead on the stroke of half-time through Ola Solbakken before Stephan El Shaarawy equalised for the hosts.

Erik Botheim then put Bodo back ahead before the two sides shared the points on matchday four in Group C.

But speaking after the game, Mourinho was adamant his side would have won the match had it not been for the referee.

The Special One was incensed that his side had not been awarded a penalty and when former Premier League striker Fjortoft confronted Mourinho on his comments during their interview, things got a little heated…

Fjortoft: “How do you explain the game today here at the Stadio Olimpico?

Mourinho: “Look, the referee has to explain but they don’t speak.

Fjortoft: “What did the referee do wrong?”

Mourinho: “Did you watch the game?”

Fjortoft: “Yes, of course, but I want it from you. What did you see from your point of view?”

Mourinho: “You tell…”

Fjortoft: “No, tell me. I want to hear it from the Roma coach…”

Mourinho: “No, you tell. No, you tell.”

Fjortoft: “You mean there should be penalties?”

Mourinho: “Come on! You know it, no?”

Fjortoft: “No you mean it should be penalties?”

Mourinho: “And you!”

Fjortoft: “Which situations did you see should be penalties? I want to hear the from the Roma coach…”

Mourinho: “You didn’t see it?”

Fjortoft: “I am only a normal TV reporter.”

Mourinho: “No, tell me what you saw…”

Fjortoft: “I couldn’t see, I was sitting so far away so you have to tell me.”

Mourinho: “Not even on the screen? You didn’t watch it after the game?”

Fjortoft: “So you meant the referee took it away today?”

Mourinho: “Of course.”

Fjortoft: “And what about Bodo/Glimt today. Was that any surprise how they came today?”

Mourinho: “They are a good team and they have good players. They had two shots, they score two goals. The result was 2-2. We had two penalties. We had four or five chances to score.”

Mourinho’s return to Italy has not been short of controversy and drama and the former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss has played his part in preserving his box-office reputation.

Roma currently sit fourth in Serie A but they remain 12 points adrift of league leaders Napoli and AC Milan.

The Giallorossi also still have work to do if they are to qualify for the knockout stages in the Conference League.

They sit in second place behind Bodo/Glimt at the moment on seven points but Ukrainian side FC Zorya are hot on their tails with six points.

Defeat to their qualification rivals could swing the balance, although Roma still have to face Bulgarian side CSKA Sofia, who are yet to win a game in four matches.
