Tottenham have asked to be kept updated over Antoine Griezmann but currently have NO plans to bid for him.

Barcelona are desperate to sell the France World Cup winner to lower their wage bill, and Spurs are the latest club to be offered the 30-year-old.

But Griezmann’s wages are a major stumbling block for the north Londoners, who are set to sign Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on loan this week.

Spurs also believe the Frenchman has his heart set on a return to Atletico Madrid and would not be interested in joining them.

Barcelona must reduce their wage bill before Lionel Messi’s new contract can be signed off by the Spanish authorities.

So they are shopping Griezmann, who is one of their highest earners, all over Europe.

A swap deal with Atletico had been on the cards, with Saul Niguez set to move in the opposite direction.

But talks between the clubs have ground to a halt over financial issues, with Griezmann now being offered to Premier League teams as well.

Chelsea discussed a move for Griezmann but decided their priority was strengthening other areas of the team.

That is also the case for Manchester City, with both clubs targeting younger players this summer.

Griezmann himself is believed to favour a return to Atletico, the club he left in a £107m deal in 2019.

But many Atletico fans have still not forgiven him for the way he walked out on them, and Madrid are in no hurry to bring him back.

Griezmann has three years left on his contract at Barca and is available for a fraction of the huge £717m release clause that contract contains.
