Tottenham have reportedly decided to part ways with Antonio Conte this week following his outburst after the 3-3 collapse against Southampton on Saturday. The Italian hit out at the club and slammed his players after giving up a two-goal lead at St Mary’s, prompting fresh rumours that the club may dismiss him before his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Telegraph have claimed that Spurs are expected to confirm Conte’s departure this week, with coach Ryan Mason likely to be placed in charge of the team for the remainder of the season, beginning with their trip to Everton on April 3.
Conte has flown back to his homeland during the international break as Spurs chief Daniel Levy consulted with his close allies regarding the situation at the club and whether he could continue to back Italian after his latest rant.
The report claims that an exit this week is inevitable, despite the north London side currently sat in fourth place in the Premier League table. Levy spoke with Conte regarding his comments and though the head coach explained that he was criticising his players rather than the hierarchy, he did not back down and it may have spelt the end of his time at the club.

In his latest outburst, Conte took aim at his players and the culture surrounding the club after James Ward-Prowse’s spot-kick ensured the hosts claim a point against Spurs. “I think it’s better to go into the problem, we are not a team,” Conte said in his explosive post-match press conference.
“We are 11 players that go into the pitch. I see selfish players, players that don’t want to help each other and don’t put their heart [into it]. This season compared to last, now we are worse in this aspect. When you are not a team you cannot improve. They don’t play for something important, yeah. They don’t want to play under pressure, they don’t want to play under stress.

“It is easy in this way. Tottenham’s story is this, 20 years there is the owner and they never won something but why? The fault is only for the club, or for every manager that stay here.
“I have seen the managers that Tottenham had on the bench. You risk to disrupt the figure of the manager and to protect the other situation in every moment. Until now I try to hide the situation but now, no, because I repeat I don’t want to see what I have seen today.
“Everyone has to take their responsibility. Not only the club, the manager and the staff. The players have to be involved in this situation because it is time to change this situation if Tottenham want to change. They can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me.”
