West Ham midfielder Nikola Vlasic has joined Torino on a season-long loan, less than one year after signing for the Irons.

Vlasic arrived at the London Stadium last August from CSKA Moscow for a £35million fee but has since struggled to impress David Moyes.

The Italian club also have the option to sign the 24-year-old permanently next summer.

The Croatian international started just six Premier League matches last season and scored only once for the club – during a 4-1 win against Watford in December.

Beginning a fresh chapter with manager and fellow countryman Ivan Juric, Vlasic will now bid to help Torino improve upon their 10th place Serie A finish last campaign.

His exit comes less than a week after West Ham confirmed the £17.5m signing of Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet, who arrived in the capital to boost Moyes’ options in attacking areas.

Vlasic’s move to Torino marks West Ham’s second loan departure of the summer, after Arthur Masuaku left to join Turkish side Besiktas on a loan-to-buy deal earlier this month.

Before his turbulent year with West Ham, Vlasic had notched 33 goals and 21 assists in 108 appearances during his time in Moscow.

Following their 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend, West Ham travel to the City Ground to face newly-promoted Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
