Tiemoue Bakayoko feared for his life as he opens up on police pulling gun on him

Tiemoue Bakayoko has opened up on his police ordeal which saw him held at gunpoint on the streets of the Milan.

Chelsea midfielder Bakayoko, who is currently on loan at AC Milan, was stopped and searched by Italian officers earlier this month in a case of mistaken identity. He was forced out of his car and pressed against the police vehicle before the mix-up was realised.

The 27-year-old has admitted he was fearing for his life at the time while speaking about his experience on his Instagram account. Bakayoko recalled: "I found myself with a gun just three feet from me, on the passenger side of the car.

"They clearly put our lives in danger. I have no problems with human error, but the ways and means the police used cause me a problem.

"Things went further than they should have. Why didn't they just do a vehicle check worthy of the name? They could have asked me for the car's documents, and communicated simply with me.

"You don't see the whole story in the video posted on the social networks. That was the quiet part. The consequences could have been so much more serious had I not kept calm.

"Or had I not been lucky enough to be doing the job that I do, and to have been recognised after a while. What might have happened next? Might they have taken me to the police station?

"Yet again, it makes one ask an awful lot of questions. It is unacceptable to put people's lives in so much danger."

Milan's police headquarters responded after a clip of the incident emerged on social media. Their statement read: “The search, happened on July 3, was due to a gun shooting which happened in the area in previous hours.

"The two suspected were two men in an SUV fitting the description. One of the two was black and with green shirt. That’s why the gunpoint.”
