Three players Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta could sign to replace Mesut Ozil

Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil is edging closer to leaving the club on a free transfer, with reports suggesting his contract will be terminated with immediate effect.

The German playmaker hasn’t featured this season after being exiled from the senior squad list for both the Premier League and Europa League.

He’s been linked with a move to Fenebarche, and is expected to fly to Turkey this weekend to complete a move there.

But his move away leaves Arsenal with a hole in their attack, and a vacant number ten shirt.

Daily Star Sport has identified three players they could target before the window closes.

Julian Draxler

Julian Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past, but has always remained loyal to Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, however, he is approaching the end of his time in the French capital.

Draxler is out of contract in the summer, and PSG aren’t willing to extend the playmaker’s contract.

He has the required attribute Mikel Arteta is looking for, as he can play either on the wing or through the middle as a number ten.

PSG are said to be eager to sign Dele Alli on loan, and getting rid of Draxler on the cheap this month could help them free up space and work out well for all parties.

Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish would be by far the most expensive option for Arsenal, but arguably the best.

The Aston Villa star, wanted by Manchester United in the previous window, was valued at £80million, and went on to sign a bumper new contract worth £120,000-per-week.

Since then, his value has skyrocketed due to a number of terrific performances, and has been the star of Villa’s season so far.

Arsenal know only too well the quality he possesses, having been put to the sword by the attacker in a 3-1 demolition job earlier this season.

But if Arsenal want someone who can come in and provide a world-class option from the get-go, Grealish would be their best option.

Michael Olise

Reading youngster Michael Olise would be a great target if they decided to go in a different direction to Grealish or Draxler.

The French wonderkid has already caught the eye of a number of Premier League teams, including Chelsea.

His dribbing ability makes him a threat from the right wing, and he’s already scored four goals and provided eight assists in the league this season.

He’s only 19, so he would definitely be viewed as one for the future, but could be the perfect player to come in and help Emile Smith-Rowe with his development.
