Chelsea failed to beat Southampton on Saturday despite being the more dominant force on the south coast, leaving Thomas Tuchel very frustrated at full-time. The German had plenty to say about his side after the game, and drew particularly on their lack of threat in attack.
Three Chelsea stars could be in the firing line from Thomas Tuchel after he took a swipe at his “expensive guys”.
The Blues failed to beat Southampton on Saturday despite being the more dominant force on the south coast.
The result means Tuchel is still unbeaten since replacing the sacked Frank Lampard, and Chelsea are once again in the top four.
But their ambitious new boss was clearly not happy with just a single point against the Saints, and picked faults with the attack.
“The structure is never the problem or the solution,” he said in his post-match press conference. “It’s always down to the players.
“The structure is fluid and in different structures you find different spaces.
“You can be sure we think day and night about scoring goals and creating chances. We play up the pitch and the statistics we have high up the pitch, we don’t score enough.

“At the moment, it’s a lack of precision. Not opportunities or touches in the box. It’s down to decision making and today…I didn’t feel we killed the game when it was there to be done.”
Having already slammed his forward players, Tuchel also appeared to take a swipe at the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner who have underperformed since joining Chelsea last summer.
While Christian Pulisic was also perhaps in the firing line, having failed to convince Tuchel to hand him a start so far.
He added when asked if his biggest challenge is to make the attacking talent play well: “My job is to win games, it’s not to put some expensive guys together.”
Speaking about the game on the whole and whether it was a missed opportunity, he replied: “Clearly yes.
“We had our chances and possibilities to take another win. It would have been a deserved win. Sometimes it’s like this in football.
“Concede one chance and they score. Last 20 metres I was not happy. We were not decisive, enough. To create more chances.
“Decision making was not good today. After a match like this, if you need a penalty to score, it tells the story.”
