Third Liverpool transfer to be hijacked as Gravenberch ‘wants’ Man Utd
Chelsea V Liverpool: Pictures
Liverpool could be set for further rejection this summer after Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia already turned the Reds down in favour of a move to Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp’s outfit have been scrambling in order to bolster their midfield but are facing more issues with less than a month before the transfer window closes on September 1.
The Reds have attempted to reignite their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who had admitted that he was prepared to leave the Bundesliga champions in favour of more regular playing time after a difficult first season in Germany. However, talk had gone cold on a potential move after Liverpool added both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Now, Foot Mercato have claimed that Liverpool have attempted once again to bring the Netherlands international to Anfield. Negotiations have been opened between the club and Gravenberch’s entourage, as he is open to moving to England this summer after failing to impress Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel.
No offer to Bayern has been made yet, but one major concern for Liverpool is that Manchester United have also activated plans to sign Gravenberch and he currently prefers a move to Old Trafford.

It would come as a major blow having already been beaten to Caicedo and Lavia by Chelsea and are still searching for midfield reinforcements with both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving for Saudi Arabia.
United are in the market for a midfielder with Fred departing and Scott McTominay also potentially on the chopping block, though they have Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat and Everton’s Amadou Onana on their shortlist alongside Gravenberch.

The 23/24 home shirt for Liverpool pays homage to the past of the club, as well as collaborator Nike, with a strong 1970s influence. The iconic red, capped with bold white cuffs and collar really does invoke that classic Liverpool FC style while adding a cool retro touch
While Liverpool have looked at Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure but he could cost as much as £60m, while previous targets Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram could come back in the fold – especially if United are successful in pinching Gravenberch away from them.
The Dutchman is thought to be ready to leave Bayern, despite his publicly claiming that he wants to stay at the club. When asked for his view on a lack of minutes at Bayern last season, Gravenberch told Dutch outlet AD: “The difference from playing everything at Ajax to sitting on the bench for eighty or even ninety minutes each time was both physically and mentally tough.
“I found that especially difficult before the winter break. Now I handle it better. I assume that I will still be playing for Bayern next season. That’s really how I feel about it. I’m in a top-three club in the world. I think that’s beautiful and special. I’m not giving up easily. My goal is still to succeed at Bayern.”
