Ten Hag ‘ripped Man Utd to shreds’ during interview which left chiefs stunned

Erik ten Hag reportedly left Manchester United chiefs stunned when he ripped into the Red Devils during an interview for the job.

United announced Ten Hag as their first-team coach on Thursday morning following their disappointing defeat to Liverpool. The Red Devils have struggled this campaign, and Ralf Rangnick's side face a battle for European football next season.

However, Rangnick won't be in the hot seat, instead, Ten Hag will be in the dugout, and he already knows what has to be fixed. According to The Sun, Ten Hag shocked Darren Fletcher and John Murtough when listing United's problems.

The report claims that United's technical director Darren Fletcher and football director John Murtough flew to Amsterdam in March to interview the boss.

A source said: “It was like United were being interviewed by Ten Hag rather than the other way round.” And the Dutchman reportedly “ripped the United set-up apart” mainly taking aim at their recruitment and scouting policies.

United have splashed the cash in recent seasons, forking over eye-watering amounts of money for little success in return.

On the other hand, in Amsterdam, Ten Hag has spent sparingly and still elevated Ajax to one of Europe's best sides again.

Under Ten Hag, Ajax's largest deal was to bring Sebastian Haller to the Dutch capital for £20million from West Ham. The Ivorian has subsequently been transformed into one of Europe's most potent strikers, even finding the net regularly in the Champions League.
