Ted Lasso and Coach Beard spotted on ‘secret scouting mission’ at Arsenal match
Ted Lasso and Coach Beard were spotted on a ‘secret scouting mission’ during Arsenal’s 3-0 thumping of Brentford.
Mikel Arteta’s side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in west London courtesy of headers from William Saliba and Gabriel Jesus, as well as a long-ranged striker from Fabio Vieira. But observing it all from the stands were actors Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt, who play Ted Lasso and Coach Beard respectively in the hit self-titled American TV show.
The comedy drama series follows a football coach from the US who is hired to coach a fictional English club despite having no experience. And viewers were quick to joke that Lasso was keeping an eye on the talent on display during the Premier League clash.

One Twitter user wrote: “This looks like a secret scouting assignment. Coaches Lasso and Beard watching the Gunners dominate.”
Another tweeted: “Ted Lasso scouting for talent for the Southern XI for the All Star game.”
A third joked: “Ted Lasso and Coach Beard taking notes from Arteta.”
However, Arteta’s previous comments indicate that the Spaniard may have also learned a thing or two from the fictional character. He admitted in September last year during a tough run of results that Lasso’s positivity had helped him at times.
Arteta said: “The last one I watched, and I’m now watching the new episodes, is Ted Lasso. It’s been great.
“It’s been great in tough, difficult moments. He’s always smiling and always believing and it gives you a different perspective that there is not one way of looking at things.
“There are positives and negatives and there are people that manage in a really successful way to do it differently. Thanks Ted, you’ve been brilliant.”
