Steven Gerrard seen telling Jurgen Klopp he’s wrong over decision on touchline
Steven Gerrard was keeping a close eye on the actions of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp during Aston Villa's trip to Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The former Reds skipper, who has been linked with the managers role at his former club down the line, has insisted that he was only focused on securing all three points for Villa.
After directing his applause to the away fans more than the home support before kick-off, he had a chat with his rival boss in a row over a referee decision.
Gerrard and Klopp were both in regular dialog with the fourth official during a tense opening 45 minutes, and the former England skipper even offered some guidance.
Gerrard is said to have tried to explain a debatable decision to Klopp after the former Borussia Dortmund coach spoke to the official next to the dugouts.
Before the fixture, Gerrard passionately applauded the away support at Anfield, but only briefly acknowledged the home supporters with a polite wave towards the Kop.
He said before the match: "I’m going to Anfield, of course looking forward to it because I’ve had some fantastic memories in the place."
With Klopp saying when asked if his opposite number would end up managing Liverpool during the week: Yes, I think, absolutely.

“The only problem is when is the right moment for that? We saw it with Frank [Lampard] at Chelsea.
"He [Gerrard] is doing really well but is very young from a manager’s point of view. When is the right moment to take the manager’s job? Not because he’s not able to do it but how long do you want to do it? Is it the last job you want to do?
"The second job? Those are questions I can’t answer. But yes, I think it will definitely happen – and that is good for everybody.”
Adding: "It’s not for me to make the decision.
"I don’t know what you have to do before you become Liverpool manager. I know people say you have to win things but I’m not sure about that. It is more important you win things when you are here.
"You don’t have to win things in the past with all this ‘proven winner’ rubbish. You can win things in the past and never win things again."
