Steven Gerrard questions Alfredo Morelos’s birthday post on Instagram

Steven Gerrard has enjoyed a phenomenal start to life in top-tier management, guiding Scottish outfit Rangers to the Scottish Premier League title without losing a game in just his third season at the Ibrox.

The 2020/21 campaign was a remarkable one for Gerrard, who oversaw back-to-back Old Firm wins over fierce rivals Celtic en route to securing their first title in ten years and 55th in the club's illustrious history.

With the former Liverpool midfielder celebrating his 41st birthday last Sunday, his social media was inundated with well-wishes from some of the biggest names in football, as well as tributes from his own players.

One of which came from Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, who took to Instagram to post a sweet message dedicated to his boss.

The Colombian forward's post read: "I want to wish a happy birthday to the best coach in Scotland." Initially, the Rangers manager seemed to be grateful for the tribute, simply responding "amigo".

However, Gerrard clearly saw the birthday message as a great opportunity to wind-up his striker, and returned to his comments section to sarcastically respond to Morelos "best coach in Scotland" claim.

Gerrard asked in tongue in cheek fashion, "Just Scotland", before following up with "Europe? World?"

Both comments went down well with members of the Rangers faithful who loved reading the exchange between their manager and star striker.

24-year-old Morelos is currently enduring a period of self-isolation away from the Ibrox, after testing positive for COVID-19 while on an international duty for Colombia.

Morelos was one of two positive cases identified after routine testing, but he is reported to be in good health and not suffering from any extreme symptoms.
