Spurs target Harry Maguire – and Man Utd deal would have ‘Harry Kane’s backing’
Tottenham could end Harry Maguire’s Manchester United misery – and keep Harry Kane happy at the same time.
The England defender started just eight times in the Premier League in the season just completed and has been told he isn't in the Erik ten Hag’s plans, especially with the club looking to sign at least one new centre-back this summer.
Moving Maguire on may not be straightforward as he still has two years left on his contract while his wages could present an issue too, meaning United may have to cough up to get the former Leicester man off their books.

A number of clubs are interested in Maguire though, and they reportedly include Spurs, who are starting a new era following the appointment of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
The Telegraph says Tottenham’s interest in the player is not related to United’s desire to sign Kane, who is entering the final year of his contract and could finally leave this summer.

In fact, rather than be part of any two-way transfer, the addition of Maguire could actually help persuade Kane to stay for at least one more year. The pair are good pals having bonded on England duty, with Kane said to have recommended Maguire to Spurs on a number of occasions.
The north London club have been linked with Maguire in the past, with Mauricio Pochettino wanting to sign him when he was at Hull City. Maguire moved to Leicester instead before his £80m to United in 2019.
Maguire is one of up to 12 players who could be shown the door by United this summer, with the future of David de Gea uncertain too.
Similarly, Spurs are planning a clear-out, with a host players, including Eric Dier and Ben Davies, potentially on the move.
