Djed Spence’s sister aims a dig at Antonio Conte after Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat by Arsenal… as she claims things ‘could’ve been different’ with the right-back playing instead of Emerson Royal

  • Right-back Djed Spence did not feature as Spurs lost 3-1 to Arsenal on Saturday
  • His sister took to Instagram to aim a dig at Tottenham manager Antonio Conte
  • Emerson Royal was sent off before Matt Doherty came on to replace the full-back
  • Spence has only played one minute in the Premier  League so far this campaign

Djed Spence’s sister aimed a dig at Antonio Conte after the manager left the right-back out of Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-1 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday.

The 22-year-old full-back has only played one minute in the Premier League since joining Spurs from Middlesbrough this summer, with Conte electing for defenders Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty ahead of him.

After Royal was brandished a red card in the second-half, which ultimately cost Tottenham the North London derby, Spence’s sister took to Instagram to state how things ‘could’ve been different’.

Antonio Conte did not call upon Djed Spence during Spurs’ 3-1 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday

The boss instead opted for Emerson Royal at full-back, who was sent off for serious foul play

The Brazilian was sent off for serious foul play  after catching compatriot and Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli very high on the ankle.

But as Conte shuffled his pack in the second-half to recover from the sending-off, the Italian snubbed Spence in favour of full-backs Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon.

The English youngster impressed on loan at Nottingham Forest last season, helping Steve Cooper’s side earn promotion to the Premier League.

Playing as a wing-back on the right flank, the defender scored two goals and created two assists for the Reds last campaign.

Following the North London derby defeat, Spurs have remained in third spot behind rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, who triumphed with a 6-3 win against Manchester United at the Etihad on Sunday.

Conte’s side will hope for a response against fourth-placed Brighton at the Amex next weekend, after hosting Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday.
